Which Food Causes Harmful Effect On Dogs?

Foods are main important thing in dogs. Dogs’ digestive systems differ from humans. Some foods are safe for humans but can be harmful to dogs.

Giving healthy food to your dog is very important for a dog’s healthy life. It’s critical to understand which foods can harm dogs and steer clear of them.

14 Food Items That Are Harmful For Dogs

Xylitol

Candy, gum, toothpaste, baked goods, and several diet foods are all sweetened with xylitol. It can cause your dog’s liver to fail and lower blood sugar levels.

Early symptoms include nausea, sleepiness, and problems with coordination. Your dog might eventually experience seizures. The liver could fail in a few days.

Onions and Garlic

Any kind of onion or garlic, including powder, raw, cooked, or dehydrated, should not be given to your dog. Anemia can occur as a result of them destroying their red blood cells.

Dogs are poisoned by all parts of the onion plant, including the flesh, leaves, juice, and processed powders. Onions and Garlic are toxic to dogs, whether raw or cooked, fried or powdered.
From soups to puppy food, onion powder can be found in a surprising variety of foods. Toxic effects are caused by 100 grammas of onion (roughly the size of a medium onion) per 20 kilograms of a dog’s weight, which means that a 45-pound dog would only need to eat one medium-to-large onion to experience dangerous toxicity levels.

Chocolate

Dogs are harmed by the bromine, a stimulant found in chocolate that is somewhat similar to caffeine. The type of chocolate will determine how much the bromine is there. If your dog eats chocolate, the symptoms of the bromine poisoning will appear four to twenty-four hours later.

The bromine mostly affects the gut, heart, central nervous system, and kidneys. Seizures, diarrheic, hyperactivity, restlessness, and vomiting are possible.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant, like chocolate. Dogs are more susceptible to the effects of coffee than humans are. While a few sips of tea or coffee are unlikely to be harmful, your dog may be at risk if they ingest a large quantity of coffee or tea bags. Caffeine toxicity shares many of the same symptoms and treatments as chocolate toxicity.

Cheese, milk, and cream

Dairy products such as cheese, milk, and cream are not nutritionally complete snacks for your dog and should only be used as a rare treat, if at all. The most common issue with dairy products is lactose, which your dog may have difficulty digesting.

Even if your dog tolerates lactose well, including dairy as the main ingredient in your dog’s diet is never a good idea. Dairy is high in fat and can cause weight gain and pancreatitis.

Dogs lose the enzymes necessary to digest dairy products as they get older and become adults. This means that if they consume milk, cream, or cheese, they may display symptoms of lactose intolerance, such as vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach discomfort.

Avocado

Avocados are yet another item that is bad for dogs. The leaves, fruit, and seeds of avocado plants contain a chemical called person, which can make dogs throw up and have diarrhea.
These familiar fruits are unhealthy for two reasons. To start, their high fat content may seriously harm your dog’s digestive system. Second, eating the slick; hard pit is simple but may result in a stomach obstruction.

Salty Snack Foods

Extra thirst, frequent urination, or even sodium ion toxicity in animals can all result from consuming large amounts of salt. Vomiting, diarrhea, depression, trembling, an increase in body temperature, convulsions, and even death are indications that your pet may have consumed too much salty foods. Consequently, we highly advise avoiding providing your pets with salty foods like pretzels, potato chips, and salted popcorn.

Grapes and Raisins

While some dogs are affected by grapes and raisins, in others they have been linked to kidney failure. Simply put, learning is not worth the risk! Within 12 hours of consumption, nausea, fatigue, and diarrhea are possible. Without treatment, the symptoms may result in dehydration, decreased appetite, and increased followed by decreased urine.

If your dog experiences these effects after consuming grapes or raisins, take her to the vet immediately. Your dog may acquire chronic renal disease within three to four days, or he may pass away from kidney failure.

Macadamia Nuts

Macadamia nuts are often listed as among the top human foods to avoid giving your dog. Dogs may exhibit weakness, depression, tremors, vomiting, and an increase in body temperature within 12 hours of ingesting macadamia nuts.

The typical duration of these symptoms is between 12 and 48 hours.

The consequences of eating macadamia nuts include vomiting, ataxia (lack of coordination), weakness, hyperthermia (overheating), and depression.

Alcohol

Like in humans, alcohol has the same negative effects on the liver and brain of dogs. But it doesn’t take much to hurt your dog. Beer, liquor, wine, or other alcoholic beverages can be harmful in even small doses.

It may result in nausea, diarrhea, and difficulty with balance, decreased respiration, a coma, or even death. It may be even harsher if your dog is small.

Raw Eggs

The parasite that causes “fish disease” or “salmon poisoning disease” can also be found in several species, like salmon, trout, shad, and sturgeon. Though it can be treated, seek support straight away the first signs include nausea, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. Cook the fish completely to kill the parasite.

Citrus

Citrus plants’ stems, leaves, peels, fruit, and seeds all have varying concentrations of citric acid and essential oils, which can irritate the stomach when ingested in large quantities. And possibly even cause central nervous system depression. Small doses, such as eating the fruit, are not expected to result in anything more severe than a slight stomach pain.

Yeast Dough

Bread made with yeast has the potential to rise and fill your pet’s digestive system with gas. This can be uncomfortable, because bloating that is painful, and even twist the stomach, posing a life-threatening emergency. When a dog consumes uncooked bread dough, ethanol is produced by the yeast as a byproduct, which can make them intoxicated.
